I have a 100 gallon acrylic tank I am building a stand for. I will eventually upgrade to a 180. I am going to go ahead and build the stand big enough for a 180 but I am unsure of the dimensions. Does anyone have the general length for a 180 and width. Are there any good threads for diy stands??

Most glass 180g tanks are 6' X 2' X 2'.

I am sure you thought of this but figured I would mention the mistake I made. If you are planning on a RR tank, make sure you incorporate room for the returns in your stand design. When I built my 180 stand, I forgot to make room for the corner overflows and had to rework the stand.

As mentioned, a standard glass 180 has a 72"x24" footprint.

Don't build the stand until you get the tank. You're going to want to design it to match the tank you get, rather than the other way round. You've no idea where the drains are going to be, or what special needs your tank might have. Seems rather silly to build a stand not knowing what you're going to put in it, on it, or around it.
