I came home yesterday and noticed that in various place of my tank, I have small air bubbles on the sand bed. I added a calcium reactor two weeks ago. My water is adjusting.
CA-450
DKH-12.4
PH-8.0
Phosphates-low
Nitarates-good.

Any suggestions?

i dont have any personal expericene with this, but i imagine increasing flow accross the sandbed that doesnt make a sandstorm would help. Also, for those smarter than I what does water do when it is supersaturated with oxygen.. could it maybe be that? Or do you have a snail with gas lol

Under/within the sand or on the surface?

I actually increased the flow with another mj1200 on a timer that comes on with my actnics.

could it be some kind of algae photosynthesizing releasing CO2?
or could it be something releasing N2?

this is a common occurance with sand beds. ussually happens in non mature tanks as the sand is giving off gasses as the biological process takes hold. very good sign but also can possibly mean your sand is not yet established or aged. in other words as old as you say your tank is it may be experiencing a reestablishment of de-nitrifying bacteria(fixed with edit). bubbles in the substrate means this always for sure...i see it a lot. no worries it will pass with time. just let it pass.

Thanks. My sand bed is about one year old and I just wanted to make sure it was nothing to do with the CA reactor.

Is this the beginning stages of bubble algae?
