Is it true that sleeper gobies usually die when not put in pairs? I currently have just one which i bought yesterday.

I haven't heard that one, but they do usually end up starving to death depending on what species you got.IMO.

They do much better in mated pairs, but it doesn't seem to be essential to their wellbeing. IME using a pipette or turkey baster to place frozen foods under the sand for the gobies to sift out will keep them well fed -- they don't usually manage to get enough food from the water column at feeding time to keep up with their super-fast metabolism.

One thing I've fed them in the past that they loved was live blackworms. Usually they sell them for fresh water fish but I can't tell you how many finicky eaters i've got started eating with rthat as a first food.Butterflies especially.

ACBlinky thats genius!! i will try it, how deep do you inject the food, im guessing just enough so it doesnt float away right? And for mated pairs, how do you tell if they are M or F?
