Regarding the color of zoas, does it make a difference where you place them? Do blues like to be higher or lower in light ...Pinks...Orange...Green...

I just want to make sure certain zoas will color up the nicest.

I keep all my blues and purples lower in my tank. When they are getting to much light they start to fade or get some speckling. Most of my bright colors I keep in high light.

Ditto... Though I like the speckling on my PPE's... You can also move them under LR overhangs to get them a bit more in the shade... Just remember 4th grade science class...

Red
Orange
Yellow
Green
Blue
Indigo
Violet

lol :) Nah, the ocean acts as a filter for light... Only the most powerful wavelengths make it through to certain depths... Certain colorations of zooxanthelae are geared to receive that wavelength... Of course you also have to take into consideration what type of lighting you are using and its wattage and penetrating power as to what depths you set them to in your tank!!!!!

Here's a good example of a PPE being in to much light. Its starting to get the speckling around the mouth.

great suggestion JGoslee and ct_vol...

I always start my newer frags in the sand be and move them up as they get acclimated in their new lights...

ok, im new but i have some pinks, some blue ones, and a cluster of yellow orange and reddish. my lights are weak as told by the fish store guys. two 36 watts lights. where should i place these 3 frags, does it matter with my weak lights? by the way my blue ones are awesome. yellow "leafs" and a blue and green center like a bulls eye. got five/six polyps for $5, im stoked. any feed back would be great, thanks.
