I use an Eheim 1260 as my sump return pump. Should I take the filter sponge out of the intake or leave it in? It seems like pods from my fuge would never make it past this sponge, but I don't want pieces of macro being sent back up into the display either.

Thanks,
Adam

Either way is fine. I took my sponge out so as not to have it be a nitrate factory. Others leave it in. Prolly 6 of one, half-dozen of the other so do what you prefer.

I took mine out to get pods into the display and to keep waste out.

OK, sounds like there's no harm in taking it out. Thanks for all the replies.

Hmmm... I might have to try taking mine out. It keeps getting dirty and decreasing my flow
