Sorry, 2ng attempt to post pictures.....

I'm just starting up my new 120gal tank and based on what I've seen on the internet, I set up using 2 x 1.5" overflows on the rear wall. The back has a reducer to 1" pipe with a T and air valve on top to control siphoning. The pump is a MAG 950 pushing about 700 gph with the 5' of head.

But it is way too loud! Is there anything I can do? I've put the startup on hold. The tank is in the family room and we can't live with it making this much noise.

You need to submerge the drain line in the sump to get it quiet IME.

I have a similar setup on my 60; it was also fairly loud. I got 2 45-degree "street-elbows" and placed them in the bulkheads. This put the opening just under the water and I adjusted the air valve. Everything worked perfectly, the noise got significantly better, there is no siphoning. Now if I could just get my pump to not make any noise.
