I have an Urchin I used for years... was a good skimer.
I moved to a larger tank and got an EV-120.

what size of tank?

what kind of livestock?

to really know if a skimmer will workout you need to know what you are going to skim.

I currently have one on my 40b and love it, the paper towel mod is a must in my opinion to keep it quiet. Keep the Collection cup neck clean every couple days and it works great! My 2 1/2 cents for what its worth.

What is the paper towel mod

Just a folded non printed paper towel (white) folded into a little square and put underneath the collection cup on the nozzle side, tones down the nozzle and Fizz noise.

ive heard from alot of people here that they are pretty good skimmers for what thier worth. i woulodnt think they would be all that ideal on a tank as large as 90g's though...

Should be fine on a 46G tank or anything smaller.

the remora is rated for tanks 1-75 gallon, the remora PRO is rated to 120 gallon

Ratings are generally inflated. I don't believe there is an HOB skimmer that is adaquate for anything more than a 55G tank. I like Aqua-C, but I run an EV-180 on a moderately stocked 75G.

Yes, I've owned an AquaC for years, but as I said ratings are nothing to go by. With the exception of Deltec, HS&S, or Bubble King, a good rule of thumb is to cut the rating in half. I believe Seaclones are rated for 100G.

i agree they are inflated, kinda like horsepower ratings on sportscars, but the remora pro is no seaclone............thank god. and all i know is i overclocked mine with a mag 5. and it pulls 12oz. a day of the nastiest thickest skim you have seen. easy to set up, no adjustment and takes up very little space.

"it pulls 12oz. a day of the nastiest thickest skim you have seen"

I beg to differ..they are great skimmers no doubt about it, but i would use a bigger skimmer on a 75+ tank.

Thats just me though, i bet some people of the "euro-reef" club will argue that quote too.lol
