I have one in my 90. I use it to supplement a Vortech pump. It has never given me a single problem.

Get a larger one like the 1100 if you can.

I used to have two Seios in my 75 but after a few problems with them re-started, I got both fixed but just went on ahead and went the Tunze route. TAAM pumps just don't hold up good.

Well I was thinking about getting two and using that with about 1000 flow from the the sump as flow for my 180 gallon fowlr system

I'd go for somthing bigger for a tank that size.

Go for a couple of Vortechs or Tunzes if you can.

A closed loop could be a more ecenomical route to consider.

i have two of the 820's and one 620 they have been reliable for over two years but they are not a hard flow more of a indirect broad flow so you really should go for the much larger ones

I've got a can filter on it, that does 500 gph If I remember right. ( I want to take it off) I'm not doing reefing or anything, those say they are rated around 800 gph I don't see how that isn't enough? I'm relatively new to this but I just don't see how that adds up. Another thing to consider is that my tank is very short only 5 feet long. Help me understand why

i have had 5 seio pump they have all stop or seizd or just stopped working with in a day some in a month and some in 6 months my advice is to get a mjmod or tunze you will be much happier and wont waste your money.

There's a good idea, go for some Maxi mods. You can tons of flow for cheap.

I understand that you are doing a FOWLR but you still don't want detritus settling all over. Plus fish love the flow.

i guess the thing I was wondering is this, two of those at 800 gallons per hour plus about 1000 from the return system I'm looking at 2600 gph in a 180 gallon tank. 15x turnover well 14.4444x As much as I'd LOVE to spend the money on a tunze wave maker set. The price of one of the power heads like the 6000 model Which I think I'd need two is the price I have to spend on the whole setup. Plus some, (college student)
So to sum it up, are yall saying that the seio's don't put out the 800 gph? (that would be a problem)
With there less channeled water dispersal I can understand it being a problem with longer tanks not having flow in the middle if they are put on one side or the other. But With one on each side of a five foot tank and the return from the sump in the middle, that shouldn't be a problem right? (sorry if I'm a little dense) I'm just curious to why you say what you say. You know how these forums can be I'll ask a question and have two people say two opposite things. And they are prolly both somewhat right.

seios are owned by TAAM.. not rio.. they are both however, owned by the same TAAM.

2 different manufacturers, 2 different pumps.

seios != rios.

youd be happier with the 1100's

and fyi, i run just over 3100 gph in my 55g.
