Hello Powdertang, i have the same size frag tank or may be a little taller 48x24x12. I use two Tunze 6000 on multi controller 7095 interval 2. It has a very nice wave pattern.

I really don't understand your question but i rather go with something controllable so you can provide random flow to your Frags. does it make sense?

Non-electronic Tunze's can't be modified/upgraded to become controllable since they are AC pumps and not DC pumps (internal design is a little different).

Electronic DC pumps such as the electronic Turbelle's can be operated with or without a controller. Without a controller, they simply draw power from a AC to DC powerpack.

You can hook the non-electronic ones onto a wavemaker that pulses the current but it will shorted the life expectancy of the pump.

Anything below a 6000 is NOT controllable with Tunze single or multi controller set up.
