I am picking up my 75gal tank today..This is going to take a few weeks to actually get it up and running. I was planning on using the Fluval 304 and the Coralife 125 skimmer. Would that be a good start. I will probably add a refuge to it later. and eventually maybe a large sump of some sort...I just dont have alot of cash for something big now..I figure this would be a good bit of filtration to get things running. I would also probably stick 2 smaller powerheads in the back corners for some extra flow.

What are you planning on keeping in your tank? Fish only, lps, softies, sps? What are you using the Fluval 304 for? I had one at one point in time and it was a waste of money. Get yourself the best skimmer you can afford especially if you plan on buying coral. Is your tank reef ready? If cash is an issue go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy a rubbermaid tub and use that for your sump for the time being.

this tank is going to be mainly fish and live rock...probably very very little coral.

I'd still purchase a skimmer over the Fluval. Its gonna be a waste of your time with maintenance and you would get more filtration from the protein skimmer.

I think they are saying ditch the Fluval and spend that extra money on a better skimmer.
