Hey guys,

I need advice on which phosphate media to use.

I am currently using Kent Marine Power Phos. I am somewhat satisfied with the result. The down side is it does leave a red residue on my filter bags, skimmer, sump and pumps.

On other hand i have heard lots of good things about Warner Marine Phosar. But not talk to anyone with personal experience. I'm not sure if I should switch. Anyone out there use this before?

I have a Phosphate reactor and still want to use it. Can Phosar be use in a reactor?

Any advice is appreciated.

I use phosar, and am quite happy with it. Previously, I used phosban, and I got a lot of dust from it (the granules are much finer w/ phosban). With any GFO, I think it's a good idea to give it a quick rinse prior to usage. As far as phosar goes, I've never tested for phosphates, but I clean my glass less often (2x a week, instead of once a day). Haven't really noticed much of a difference as far as the corals are concerned, however.

I run it in a high flow area of my HOB fuge, but plenty of people use reactors w/ phosar.

I use Phosar also, with a reactor. Used to use RowaPhos but it was mucho expensive. I have the same results with PhoSar.

I am eagerly awaiting the release of PhoSar2 (yet to be named) as it hear it has even better results in tests.

I'm ordering my Phosar today. I wanted to be sure i could put it into the reactor.

Yep works fine through a reactor. I put it in without rinsing and run tank water through the reactor removing the effluent in a seperate container until it runs clear, then into the tank.

The container of Phosar says not to rinse it, but I agree with somehow "cleaning it" :)

Tom,

I read a few month ago regarding Phosar and you mention you ordered it. What is do you about it?

I'm planning on ordering it today.

i use before with phosban ,PhosPure plus Zeolite & Carbon, Roaw and now Phosar.

IMO compare to all this media the phosar is the better one , with all other i still saw some low level of PO4 in my test kit (salifert, elos) with the phosar it's undetectable now when i make the test.

I've used Rowa, and it worked excellent in the reactor. But, it is expensive. I've got a bottle of the Salifert stuff, which worked really really well also.
