I have a 30 gallon tall tank that I want to use as a kalk mixing tank. My idea is to have the tank sit higher than the sump. I want to have a hole close to the bottom of the tank so I can open a valve & let it drip into the sump. I want to have a float valve at the top of the tank so that my RODI can constantly keep it full.
I am a little unsure of what to use as a "drip line." What size hole should I drill? I don't think it would make any sense to drill a hole the size of a bulkhead, because then I would have to severely reduce the size to accomodate the drip line. Any suggestions?

I use a 1/2" PVC bulkhead in mine. Then you can reduce that down to whatever you want to. I think mine is 3/8" tubing.;)

I had the idea yesterday to use an IV line as a drip line.If you get a nice enough one they have built in rollers so you can adjust the drip to a perfect drops per minute.I work in the medical field so I can get one easy.

mike, that is what I have in mind also. But how to I connect the IV line to other tubing/pipe?

I've been pondering that too.I'm wondering about modifying the drip chamber where the line spikes into, maybe using some kind of epoxy to glue it to the bigger bag or container.I'll experiment some with it this week.
