My power went out today for about 1/2 hour.
No biggie, everything is OK except one of my many
xenias. It has been contracted for a couple of hours.
It stands next to (touching) others that are all fine.

all water params are normal and acceptable.
(ammonia, nitrite,nitrate,mg,ca,ph,)
any thoughts?

Mine do this every night at lights out. They just pump bac up whn the lights are on.

I don't think it's anything to worry about. I'll have a stalk or two close up for no reason sometimes. And if the power goes out or there's some other disturbance in the tank, some or all might close up for a couple of hours. It'll probably come back to life when lights come on in the morning.

Well, night has come and gone and this one cluster of xenias
still looks bad. The tips appear to be missing. I realize that
they may just be retracted, but something is definitely wrong.

I saw my eight line flasher wrasse "bump" it once last night.
Could it have harmed it? Do wrasses and xenias quarrel?

Don't think so...at least not flasher wrasses. My blue tang will occasionally nip the tip off a xenia head, but the xenia will normally recover in minutes. Yours may still come around.

I'd just give them some more time. Xenia can be fickle, imo.

but something is definitely wrong.

The more you think like this, the more tinkering you'll do, the more money you'll spend, and maybe loose sleep.
Relax. If there is something wrong, it'll take care of itself, whatever the outcome.
One thing I've learned is to interfere at a minimum, and at all costs to keep my hands out of the tank.
