Just wondering. I've heard both sides.

I think it depends on what else you keep in the tank. Research the particular items you want to keep WITH the emerald crabs. For example....if you want to keep clams, you have to be careful what else you keep in the tank...seems to be, if I recall, emerald crabs don't work well with clams...but I may be thinking of something else...either way, I had written the emerald crabs off my list due to something else I wanted to keep in my tank more. I was going to shoot for some Porcelin crabs eventually though.....

Mine has been in my reef for two months and has been a model citizen the whole time.

I have yet to have any problems with them.
I've had good and bad experiences with them. They are opportunists, if they get big enough they will eat whatever they can catch.

I've never had a problem with them - even with my clams - but for some reason they're the only animal I can't keep alive for any extended time in my aquarium and I have plenty of bubble algae and other edibles for it to feed on.

I had one once and while I did not witness it doing damage, I kept having small blennys disappear. I finally decided to get rid of it (which was no easy task) and my small fish stopped disappearing. So, I'm skeptical of the little devils.
If you decide to go with one, I'd love to hear how it goes.

Ok thanks for the advice. I may try one. I plan on a clam but not for a while. Mostly all I have so far are zoas, shrooms and polyps since it's such a new tank. I'm just looking for a crab to keep that wont hurt the corals. I like porcelain crabs too, how are they with corals?

Emeralds and Porcelain crabs should be fine with corals. I have 5 emeralds in my reef with a couple of clams and a few very small gobies and they have never been a problem. And one of them is very large.
