I have a 65 gal tank and my current skimmer took a crap. worked great and now I cant get it to do anything. It was just a cheapo to get me by. What would be a good choice on a replacement?

In sump or HOB?
How big can it be (footprint & height)?
Budget?

I like my Euro-Reef RS-80 and I know it fits into a 10 sump well. It all depends on your space available, bio-load, what corals you keep, desired nitrate levels, and of course budget

well the one i have now is in sump, but if i have to i have the room for a hang-on. but right now i only have a few inverts, 2 clowns, 4 damsels, 2 stars. i would like to get some corals in the near future. i was hoping not to spend more than $300 on one.

The ER RS80 "promo" (http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=EURO-RS080-PROMO&Category_Code=) for $180 is a good deal and would work well on that setup.

well I have had a AquaC and Euro-reef and I am much happier with the Euro-Reef. the Euro-Reef was $253 including shipping from marine depot. Others have a lot of good things to say about AquaC and other swear by Octopus skimmers as well, but my research pointed me towards the euro-reef.

* mine is the same as sjm817's example but I chose the injected acrylic model since it is supposely more durable

mark_krak:

The Lifereef factory store is in Colorado where I live.

This is a link to a thread that caused me to buy a Tunze instead of a Lifereef: http://www.reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=97434&highlight=lifereef+tunze

Can you tell whether the Lifereef model in the thread is still being made? Do you know if things have improved with Lifereef products? Which Lifereef skimmer do you have?

Thanks!
