Hi Randy,
Someone over at BRS posted this the other day

In my search for Dowflake I came across this info. Effective Jan of 2007 the original Dowflake is going to be replaced by a new more concentrated formula sold as "Dowflake Xtra" having 8-10% more Calcium Chloride and changes to the Magnesium as well. Don't know what effect this will have on Randy's mix, hope we hear from him about it.

Jim

Have you heard anything about this, and will this affect the mixing ratios of your recipe?

I would not pay extra for it, and the primary important change I can see from the Dow site is it has less moisture. Magnesium is not an issue. I'd use 10% less of it than the Dowflake by weight, but it is much less dense, so by volume you'd need more of it:

FWIW, I also do not know if it is adequately free of undesirable impurities or not.
