I would definitly not use the stand. The tank must be supported on all 4 corners or it most likely will crack. You don't want that. :)

I'm certainly not an expert, but I do know that a whole lot of the tanks are designed to support the aquarium on the "edges". And if you use that stand - your loosing 25% of your support.

I would not do it:rolleyes:

But that's just my 2 cents.

There are way too many other problems in this hobby to be creating some of your own. :D

Anybody else have any comments?

As bluetang101 mentioned; can you alter the stand at all? Although I know of a good home if you have to get a smaller tank to fit your stand... just send it to me! :)

I think I would get another stand instead of a tank;)

I designed my stand and from everything I know your tank will definitely fail. You could extend that stand back with a sturdy 2*4 frame. Just make sure when you build your frame that it is a completely level surface. Just like having no support uneven support will also cause excessive weight on the high side. Most of the weight on a tank lies on the corners by the way.

You could just purchase a nice sheet of 1/2" or 1/4" plywood (or your wood of choice)cut it to be about 3 inches bigger than all four sides of the stand, then screw it on to the top of the stand, with the stand center below the top peice of plywood. That would allow you enough room for the tank to fit on the stand. Jon

Go ahead and do it.... Then send picture of the outcome...

Don't leave your tank like that!!! Water weight is a tremendous strain on a tank, if it isn't supported on all of it's bases; you are asking for disaster.

Get a new proper size stand , like everyone said it has to be supported on all four corners and the edges have a lot of pressure and if not seated properly it will crack or split a seam in the glass and you will have a big mess on your hands.
Also if you bought a sheet of plywood larger than the stand it will buckle under the weight and eventually crack the tank!

I plan on returning the stand and buying one by all-glass since that is my tank brand, I just hope it is as nice.

Even if you just take a 2x4 and place it up under the overhanged area and then predrill some 3 inch holes and then screw some 3 1/2 screws threw the 2x4 and into the stand. You could also take two other 2x4's and place one at each corner under the one you already screwed in place and they could act as extra support. It won't look pretty but it will work. Stain the boards first and push it against the wall. Everyone will be looking at that beautiful tank and not even notice the additional lumber. Good luck.
