hey, hey people!

I was wondering if it is safe to use SeaChem Purigen and SeaGel together...(too powerful for a reef system)? or is it best to use them as a stand-alone?

Thanks a bunch!

I would seriously consider at least skipping on the Purigen. Ammonia and nitrite are the primary food source for the "cycle" bacteria in your tank. If you remove most of that mechncanically, then your bacteria population will suffer and that will seriously decrease the biological filtration capacity of your tank.

Not sure what SeaGel is for. If you're intent on using it, then hopefully someone here has some experience with it and can offer advice. All I can say is that you can definitely run a successful tank without it. It's fairly uncommon to use such filtration media in a reef tank. What is pretty common, however, is running carbon.

Hey but either way, good luck!
