Hi there

I have a 29 gallon tank I am ready to start stocking. I would really like to have 2 maroon clownfish, and also a royal gramma. is this ok to start out with? All I have right now is a Blue Linckia Starfish and six snails.

The female Maroon will get large, too large and agressive to have any other tankmates (except her mate) in a 29.
You may wish to consider a smaller species of clown, such as Perc's or Ocellaris.

I wanted to put a pair of maroons in a 29 but was advised that they were too large and active for that size tank at all. Evidently there is some danger of them rearranging your rock work for you in that limited a space. So I am, sigh, waiting for the big one to get them.

Maroons will certainly rearrange your frags and any small rockwork to suit their taste. They can get very aggressive too.

Thanks for the info. I have decided to get two juvenille Ocellaris. They are being held at my LFS, since they just came in today. Hope all goes well with them!

Good choice. You'll be able to add the royal gramma with Ocs too.

I would also suggest removing the Blue linkia... Their diet is not fully understood and are only recommended for larger tanks with alot of live rock for them to graze on so that they can eat whatever it is that they eat. I found this out the hard ways in my earlier days.
