last night right before lights off i spotted what i thought was a long zoanthid polyp torpedoing through the water, but when it approached the glass i could see that it clearly was some sort of animal, about 2-3" long, with finned/flattened tail and a clear head with some antenea? on it, it was white in color
any ideas about what it might be?
this is in a 180, so no realistic way of trying to find it, though i think it may have gone over the overflow shortly after i saw it.
any ideas are appreciated.

There is an edit/delete feature you can use for an hour after you post.
It is in the top right corner of your post.

I've seen these in my tank before. They look exactly as described. I think they are some kind of worm, otherwise a wormy life stage of somethig else.
The first one I saw was spiral swimming for a few seconds before my Clarkii nailed it. He ate the whole thing.

Probably the reproductive swarmer of a bristleworm.

no, it was much larger than a bristleworm, much thicker, and it had a defined head and tail, which were different.
tang salad, how often have you seen them.
the spiral swimming is distinctive,

I've only seen them 2 or 3 times in over 5 years.
Note that Greenbean said it may be the 'reproductive swarmer' of a bristleworm, not a bristleworm.
