Picked this up tonight from a guy tearing down his tank. He had no idea what it was tho. It got dropped upside down right onto a rock when he grabbed it, will it b ok? just acclimated into the tank so it looks a lil funny

Any idea what is is tho?

the top one looks like favites to me ... will be fine from the bump, imo.

ok they are different. they both have theyre feeders out and those are different. they look super similar tho!


crap. i just looked up favites and it says theyre sweeper tenicles are super long. is this true? i have it pretty darn close to a plate and a open brain

The sweepers on Favites can get fairly long. Most of the tentacles on mine are 1/2" or less, and I think those are the ones specifically for feeding. Then, there are occasionally much longer single tentacles that come out, and I've seen those up to about 5". Fortunately they don't seem to have done any real damage to their neighbors, but for the most part, I just keep my other corals away from this guy.

Looks like Favites. Maybe Favites chinensis

Smaller frag looks like Favites as well, but different species.
