I have a 140 gallons of water in all and on the calculator it says if i use the tech m i have to add 64 oz to raise my magnesium from 1000 ppm to 1250 ppm. Is that right? I test most of the time but i have been getting my calcium back up to 450 from 280 with calcium chloride and didnt test for a week so tonight i thought i should. Would it take that much to go from 1000 ppm to 1250 ppm? I just cant see how. 64 oz is all i have left and untill i get my mag flake.

Yes, that is correct. It is a molecular weight issue, as to why you need more Mg than Ca to raise it to same level. It takes lots of mag sup to get it up.

I think i have added about a half gallon of Tech m so im out lol good thing im getting a 50 lb bag of magnesium chloride. I never knew it took so much to raise the magnesium level in my tank.

Yes, it surprises many people. Even solid magnesium supplements are only 10% magnesium by weight, and a 100 gallon tank has more than a pound of magnesium in it.
