I'm looking for a in-sump return pump for my 120g tank.

My overflow drain is 1.5".

I'm looking for the quietest, best quality <b>"in-sump"</b> return pump.

So far, I've looked at the following models:

1) Eheim 1260 or 1262
2) Danner Mag-Drive 1200
3) Quiet One 6000 Water Pump

I'm also taking into consideration the following:

- Energy consumption
- Heat transfer

But the most important is it has to be quiet and of good quality (meaning it will last a long time).

No limit to my budget, I'd rather get the best and make the purchase only once.

Any suggestions ?

I've got a 120, and I use the Eheim 1262...... VERY quiet....... Moves lots of water from my sump to tank at a 5' head........ No noticeable extra heat........ I've used other pumps, and I like this one the best :) I can't speak for how long it will last, as I've only been running it for 3 months, but I've never heard anything bad about Eheim.

I'm also tending towards the Eheim 1262..I've not heard one bad thing about them !

When there's a power outage..any problems restarting it after ?

No problems restarting that I've encountered...... I've simulated power outages several times (flood prevention), and never had a problem.

Great thanks !

What size is your drain from your overflow ?

My drain is 1", and can't feed the pump fast enough...... I've had to throttle back the pump by putting a valve in the return line to keep it from running dry !

Eheim, put a valve on it if you need to slow it down.

i use a 1262 on my 120 and it works out perfectly. I even run it through a chiller and from there into two returns. drain size is 1.5 inches

Eheim. 1260 or a 1262 and a ball valve to dial it back.

Mag Drive is nice too. I like that it has threaded intake and exhaust...so that's an option to definitely check. Threaded plumbing is nice. I've had a Mag 7 (for 75 gal) for almost a year now no problems. Quiet and low heat. I use in sump but can be used inline but that reduces flow.

You are very lucky to have a quiet Mag7. They are notoriously noisy pumps.
