yep, yellow watchman goby doesn't grow too large and doesn't need a lot of territory...just a hidey-hole at the base of the rocks

Yep. Great for the sand bed. Adds interest.

Do they get along?
Mine just hides all the time. Do you think if I get the other one would it feel more secure?
Theres one at the LFS thats out all the time
The one I bought hid all the time . My daughter wanted it.

I have one in my BC29. He hid for two weeks.

Now he cruises up to the front of the tank every day to sunbathe.

Great fish.

To make a safe house for themselves when predators approach.

hm mine doesnt ever sift sand, but he's probably the most aggressive one in the tank during feeding. but then again his only competition is a royal gramma and false. perc. he puffs himself up and lunges at them if they get too close to where he thinks the food is going.

Don't they do this to eat detritus in the sand? Most sand sifters do. That would be very convenient.

Now that I put the otherone in the tank the yellow one shows him/herself. They are next door neighbors and don't get along for the moment. Maybe I'll throw in a shrimp and see who fights over it.

What kind of substrate are you all using with your YWG's? Reef sand, crushed coral, etc.?

I'm using reef sand. It's fine. They both look like they're chewing sand. cool

I dont really think it matters, just as long as you have a SB. I have 70% aragonite & 30% crushed coral(3-4inch SB), but the crushed coral is for my Jawfish....

Mine is the king of my tank (same size as yours) so it bosses around all the other fish... but they are pretty laid back so thats not sayin much, although he keeps nippin at my new mandarin
