View Full Version : Flow for Dendros?

I just got my very first dendro frag tonight! (pics coming soon!) I got to feed it while I was acclimating it since it started to come out.. and there is a bit of flow in my tank. Is it okay for its polyps to sway as long as i make sure it grabs onto food? Or do they like less flow?

Thanks for helping me make my dendro happy! I'll post pics before the end of this weekend!

if it is opening all the way, then you should be fine. they are really sticky.

looks like more flow then mine has. it certainly isn't not enough flow ... again, I wouldn't stress as long as the polyps keep coming out all the way, but you might want to tuck it in a corner a bit more.

I will keep an eye on it and see how it does. I have prepared my tank to keep SPS and its kind of weird.. I have very few places that dont get lots of flow. I just want to keep this guy somewhere easy to get to to feed lol

Mine are in a spot with a pretty large amount of flow, but don't seem unhappy. It means lots of food flows past them and they certainly don't seem unhappy about that. :)

no, they are much cooler as they are (a) larger (b) stay open day and night and (c) are much more attractive

are they as much care?? do you need to feed every individual polyp?

sun polyps are tubastrea, dendros are dendrophylia

you need to feed each polyp on both

Ahh that's right. These are fun to feed. maybe they wouldn't be if they get really huge really fast but i dont think mine will grow too fast. its just like having a fish to feed but it stands still and is sticky to accept food from you instead of swimming away from a turkey baster ;p

My dendros are in a low flow area under an overhang in my aquascape. They are doing great. It went from 2 polyps to now getting ready to pop polyps 5 and 6 any day now.
