distance of mh bulb from water?

Ive gotta 75G and Ive got my 2X250W MH about 15'' away from the water, everything seems to be fine like that, VHOs are the same distance away

IME try to keep them at least 8", to avoid bulbs bursting by splashing and avoid excess heat

the tank is a 46 gal bowfront with 2 x 250 watt MH I believe they are 15k bulbs

are they se(single ended) or de(double ended) bulb fixture? how will the fixture be mounted?

its a single ended with ice cap ballast. At the moment they are on a temp stand like this ]_ until we figure out the right height and then well build a canopy

I am currently refitting my reef with 250s and getting rid of my 400s. The 400s were a noobie purchase before I really understood light and they are obnoxious. That being said I hang my 400s at 12 - 16 and plan to hang my 250s at 8 - 12. HTH
