View Full Version : ORP 400mv vs 240mv AQ Fluid.

The last time I calibrated my orp probe was about 4 weeks ago and I did it with standard 400 mv fluid so I though now would be a good time for a test. I cleaned the probe for 40 minutes in red sea probe cleaning solution, rinsed with Ro water and wiped dry. Then I put it in the 240mv and the probe read 244mv. So first confirmed info is that 400mv fluid does calibrate the probe properly.

After 50 minutes in the 240mv I calibrated it and put it back in the tank, at first it did the normal thing of reading 205mv then after 1 hour it was 250mv then 4 hours later it was 410 MV :D. So I did not have to wait weeks for the probe to stabilize like with the 400mv solution. It would seem that the AQ solution recoats the probe with the needed ions. I would love if someone else confirmed this just to make sure I did not get lucky.

2 days, and ORP is still in the 400mv range. It really does seem like AQ 240 fluid does something that the regular 400 does not.
