i recently upgraded my lights from 140w pc's to a new 300w mh/200w pc combo fixture. since then ive had a hug outbreak of brown hair algae.

my phospahtes are at 0 (running rowa phos in the sump)

my clean-up crew is mostly snails.

just wondering what is the best animals to get to eat the stuff. (urchins or hermits).

TURBO SNAILS with mow it down like a DEER!

USE them then get rid of them though, cause they are big and knock corals over a such. I just use them then give them back to the fish store! They are fast eaters and should have your grass mowed in about a week!

Try these first: cut down your feedings, turn off your lights for a period of time (few hours less a day), scrape rocks if possible, & do water change.

Snails are good, and scraping it away helps... but I would concentrate on water quaility. Make sure your RO/DI system is in good shape and do some decent water changes.
