I have two Ocellaris Clownfish. Two days ago I added about 5lbs of sand (not live) to one corner where the sand had been blown away. I turned off the pumps and put the bag on the bottom before I opened it. It still clouded the water... After thÃ*s I noticed the area around the eyes are swollen.

Can sand cause this, and will it heal itself?

btw all 4 eyes look the same, perhaps one eye looks slightly better. Also they did not swim around much right after the sand incident, after 2-3hours they were normal and eating... acting normal ever since.

Hum,

Do you have a pic of these clowns? Its hard to say what they might have.

There is such a thing as popeye that you can do a search for and it will give you a lot of info. A good place to start for eye problems.

I have read all pop eye threads, I'm not sure it is. But if it is pop eye I'll just leave it. If nothing has changed til the weekend I'll try and pick something up.

It does look swollen but not cloudy. I would keep a close eye on it and keep up with your water quality.

If it is popeye, then your right to leave it alone.
