What are the white pods found in low flow areas called.

If they are swimming about, then they are likely harpacticoid copepods. If they are larger and compressed dorsally, then they are likely munnid isopods--both of which would be harmless. Maybe you can provide a picture to be sure.

Scyphia sponges(sp)? About 1cm long, round, with a small white "fan" at their end? Found in areas of low light?

This sounds more like what you are describing now--that species or one of the similar ones. When I see the word "pod", I usually associate it with one of several types of crustaceans.
