I know that 20k is better than 10K but tell me if a 70w MH 20k bulb in a BioCube hood be enough to support sps?

Why do you say that 20K is better than 10K? The difference is in their color. 6500K is the best for growth (of corals and algae), though 10K is more popular for replicating sunlight in the water (for coral growth) . . . 20K is more "blue". 1400K would be inbetween 10 and 20, and may be a better option if its going to be the only light you have (if thats available in 70W bulbs).

Will 20K 70W MH be enough to grow SPS in a BioCube? I don't know.

If you want growth you should go 10k, but if you want striking color go 20k. The trade off might be 14k or something in between.

neither K is better than either.
but 10K grows more.

but if you got 20k in a biocube would that not be too close also?

does 20k penetrate the same as 10k? Do they both loose about the same % of par w/ depth?

they penetrate the same depth 20k is just more blue and the answer to your question is 20k is ok but the 14k is best for your needs or a 10k

so at x depth they both loose y % of par?

lower K has more par to begin with.
consistnat % loss is dependant on many factors.

just found this thread while asking myself the same questions regarding this upgrade, will it be sufficient to support SPS corals, will i need to ease the corals i currently have ( LPS, softies) into the high intensity lighting.

here is a link to the lighting that is being refered to.
