I have a 180g, I think there is at least 150lbs of LR in there, could be more, I don't remember. Had a friend recommend that I needed more, what do you think?
Thanks
Link to pic here, sorry couldn't figure out how to get it small enough on here.

Usually people reccomend 1-2 lbs per gallon. I'd say it depends on your bioload. If you load up on corals and fish I think you should have more. If you have low bioload you should be ok where your at.

If there is nothing wrong with your system, why fix it?

If it is for aesthetic reason, it will be up to your personal preference. FWIW, I think I have less than 60 lbs in my 120G. And I employ a very hollow rock structure, it looks like it has more rock than it really is, and I like fishes can swim in and out of the structure.

I disagree. If anything, more bioload should mean less rock. Having lots of rock impedes your ability to give proper flow to the tank, and makes it more difficult to get things to your skimmer.

i just started a 170 cube and i have 140 pounds of rock and i love the open space...besides, when you go to stock the tank, what do most corals come attached to?....live rock. unless of course you just are planning on stocking up a bunch of sps frags.

I like the way it is. But if you want more bio-filtration then I might get more. In my 72 gallon I have about 115 lbs. My recomendation is 1-2 lbs per gallon also.

I would only add rock if you want more. If you do add more LR I would try NOT to cover any additional sand...seems like you have a DSB in the making... and covering it with LR will only lead to a nutrients sink beneath the rock, which will lead to failure down the road.
Dont forget DSBs and LR essentially do the same thing.
