Anyone know where I can find a mantis online? The only thing I can find in my area are peacocks and I'd like something different.....preferably something brightly colored.

What do you mean, "MO place"? I'm not apposed to paying for a nice shrimp.

There is one local store that has peacocks. I would gladly pick one up and ship it to you if you wanted. They run from around $29-$49 depending on size.

flying fish express has peacocks in stock right now.

www.flyingfishexpress.com. check out the section "collector's corner".

and no i dont work for them:) but they did end my 8 month long mantis quest, so i recommend them when i get the chance.

hope this helps,

the people over at FFE are really nice, if you place an order they'll work with you to get the most mileage out of your box and shipping charge.

Hey Biomekanic, are you with the Eugene Reef club?

I didn't even know there's a Eugene Reef Club, I've been driving up to Portland for the PNWMAS meetings.

Yeah, I just started going myself. They meet at a different persons' house on the third Tuesday of every month. I'll let you know the location of the next one if ya want.

For those that have PM/emailed me about the mantis available locally, here are some pics I took today at Fish Ranch. No, I'm in no way affiliated with them. They just happen to be the only place I know of in Houston that carry the critters. If anyone is interested I can bring the shrimp to you if you live in Texas or Louisiana.....or we might be able to meet somewhere. I have friends from San Antonio to New Orleans that I need to visit and I'm always looking for an excuse for a road trip. $40-$50 is kind of high for a mantis, especially if you need it shipped. If that's the case you're probably better off buying one from FFE.

Here's the large green/teal peacock that is $50:

3rd, and last of the shrimps is this little fella. It looks to be about 2-3" long. It was priced at $40 as well.

Hey, i got a peacock and have had a tank ready for another but i shurely want something other than a peacock. I am looking for a spearer mantis shrimp because everyone has smashers and spearers are something cool and diffrent. I only wish i could find somewhere to get one.
