I will have had my tank for two years next month and I never check my parameters I do get growth on my SPS but it is slow. I do notice some growth on my corals usually more encrusting on the base and some growth of the branches. What I want to know is what are the things that should be tested for in a reef aquarium and what are the acceptable ranges for each tested item.

Just to state only problem in my tank would be some bubble algae and lots of those pesky Majano Anemones.

thanks what is the best way to check them. Usingtest kits or are ther probes for anything besides PH??

Test kits are the norm, except for pH. Yes, there are probes for nitrate and calcium, but they are very expensive, and do not read continuously.
