I am in the process of building a 265 gallong tank (84x30x24) The tank will be mixed consisiting of some softies, mainly LPS, and maybe some of the easier SPS (not acros)..

Shnabbles,

We have a lot of options for that size of a tank. I would definitley go with MH. The choice between 250w and 400w will be one for you to make based on your plans for corals and whether they will be high light demanding or not. The ones you mentioned should be fne with 250w. 4 MH lamps would probably get the job done. You will also have room for supplementation if you wanted to add some VHOs or T5s.
