I'm setting up a 40 gallon fish only aquarium under my 120 reef an a double tank stand. What I'm looking for in this tank is something to entertain the grand kids so basicly larger, more colorfish fish and but nothing poisionius in case a 2 year old sticks his/her hand in the tank. I also don't want the same fish that I'd probably put in my reef.

The first problem I'm seeing with this idea is most of the larger fish need more than 40 gallons. Besides that I'm hoping on putting in at least a half a dozen different fish.

So I'm basicly looking for some suggestions.

Valentinni puffer
Orchid dotty-back
Yellow-tail damsel
six-line wrasse or 4 line wrasse
3 stripe damsel
longnose or flame hawkfish

This gives you an active tank with a variety of colors, body-shapes and movement.

Cosign with above, plus a flame angel. Just a list of possibilities though, not saying to put all of these in the tank.

I'm definatly considering some dwarf angels. However the damsels are not high on my preferences, other than possible domino's.

In the past I had dotty backs and they were the biggest hiders I ever had. I think I went several months without seeing that fish once.

A 40 is kind of small to mix dwarf angels. I'd get one or an established mated pair otherwise your taking a big chance. Dwarf angels generally don't play nice with each other.
