OK, just got my new RO/DI from filterguys.
I know it says throw away first few gallons, but I checked w/ TDS on that first batch and it said 45
I checked my tap and it said 530
Does this sound about right?
I'm hoping next batch will read closer to 0

Let it run for 5-10gl. You should see it decrease. Thats why they say to dump the first few gallons.

although a friend few towns over, his was 110
how old is that tds meter? calibrated?

I just got it.
It's a Hannah.
It says to calibrate you're supposed to use some solution that was optional(I never saw that option)
I'm clueless on what a normal reading is supposed to be and what tap runs at.

see if your lfs or anybody that has a tds meter, see if you guys can compare.
btw IMHE, I tested different deer park, poland springs and wawa (they're mainly pa/nj area) bottled water and they're about 14ppm plus/minus 7.
also, do you have well by any chance? I heard someone before saying well is high or maybe your local public works are doing something with the system

No well, but I'm wondering if this meter is crap.
I tested the same cup of water 3 times.
First-330
then-440
then-510
New batch of water says 33
We'll see what that reads in 5 min.

Is it considered cussing with initials W followed by a T, and then the letter that follows after E?

not if it stands for "What the Fish"
