I want to place two of my finger leathers real close together. I know they can grow quite big, so should I keep them apart? If they are close, will they just grow up against each other and then out? Is this a bad idea???

I'd probably not do that. I don't personally like someone right up in my face and I doubt that yout corals will appreciate it either. We all need a little room to breathe and I dont think that corals are an exception!

Ok, well Ive seen them real close together before, thats why Im asking! Ive seen many reef tanks with softies that are all bunched up...and very healthy, just wondering how this is done successfully?

put em in there and see how they respond.

If they both open up and show polyps leave em be and observe.

If one or the other does open after some time, try moving that one.

sometimes it takes 'finger leathers' time to show polyps- days, even a week or two.

I dont think with them being the same species that placing them close together will harm anything at all.

Leathers can be pretty viscious about chemical warfare, but as long as they are the same species, Id say go for it. Give it a week, week and a half and see if it works. If not you can always move one.

I wear gloves to handle them...Is this bad too? Why are they so bad to handle?
