View Full Version : Multipurpose Water pump/ Powerhead Advice

I am looking for a good multipurpose pump/powerhead to use for mixing salt water, draining my sump, pumping water change water into the sump etc. Since this will only be a supplemental tool I don't want to go crazy spending money. Any suggestions?

I dont know very much about pumps and such. How do you use a maxi jet 1200 to pump new water in during a water change?

MJ's work quite well with 1/2" ID [I think] vinyl hose ... what I use to remove water for a w/c too. While it doesn't hold perfect, works fine for replacing w/c water and the like.

Not super fast speed [big tank might want something else] - but it's a moderate flow, which is good when you walk away and it starts spraying all over the floor :)
