Besides water changes & skimming, does phosphate removers in the filter mediums work? I lost a 6" yellow tang a few weeks ago & neer found it. Bristleworms took it to a place i couldn't find i assume. It was NOWHERE! Since then i had a MASSIVE hair-algae bloom. I would have liked to remove that dead fish but it just wasn't anywhere....

Rowa-Phos is the best product to elimiinate phosphates. I run it in a Fluidized bed Filter because it is very fine. I have zero phosphate readings now after only a short period of time.

Ditto to jnc914. I have been overfeeding and using too much selcon lately causing a huge spike in phosphates and ugly cyanobacteria/redslime break-out. I tested my water and it read 2ppm in phosphates. Ouch! A friend of mine let me use his Deltec fluidized bed filter and a unopened liter of Rowa-Phos substate. Now three days later, the reading is .02ppm and by the end of the week will be most likely be ZERO. Rowa-phos is the best, however not everyplace carrys it and it is about $60 or more per liter.

I am not sure where you live, but the liter I used came from The Aquarium Gallery in Hudson, NH. It is most likely only carried at upscale LFS, so you may want to google it and get it mailordered.

Roadracer- I see you live in reading. Pa. I live relatively close to the area. I got my rowa-phos supply from That Fish Place in Lancaster. Definately worth the drive. And all sizes of it were on sale, savings of 10-15 dollars. My fluidized filters were custom made from MY Reef Creations.
