Which Epoxy Brand works best for large acro colonies to be glued to the rocks? I use the Zap super glue gel for frags and it works great but not on large colonies.

I use that green and white stuff from home depot. I think it's aquamend but i get them confused. It is a roll like the one posted above, but green outside white inside. Put glue on the frag, then a small ball of epoxy, then more glue on top of that. The epoxy isnt real sticky and will easily fall off otherwise. The combo of glue and epoxy is great.

The stuff I recommended gets real sticky in like 2 minutes. So you mix it, let it sit a couple minutes and stick it on whatever pieces you want bonded. They will hold. In 5 minutes it starts to harden with full curing in 24 hours.

The great thing is you can carry the whole thing out underwater. The frag never has to come out of the water.

It says an excessive amount can make the skimmer go crazy but I haven't had it happen yet.

I use "Z-spar Splash Zone" epoxy for attaching rocks or larger colonies. It is very sticky out of water, less so in. It cures more slowly than the stick stuff- takes about an hour to form initial bond. Once it is cured though the bond is quite strong. It will not fall apart under water like most epoxies. In fact, when 2 rocks are stuck together with it you have to pull quite hard to get them apart.

I only use the stick epoxy when 1 piece has a stem that can be stuck into a hole in another so the epoxy just fills the hole around the stem. The Z-spar will even bond 2 flat surfaces.

I bought it at Go-2-marine (http://www.go2marine.com/product.do?no=79357F) . The smallest container it comes in is 2 quarts (1 qt A and 1 qt B). That is a disadvantage, but it keeps well. I got it a year or so ago and have used about 2/3 of it on my large tank. It's great for stabilizing rock work as well. A little bit around the contact points makes the rocks "rock solid".
