Whats the best pump that does not get clogged every week for sump return water? I have a propeller pump and it sux, gets clogged every week. I got a gen-x 55hp and the holes in the thing get clogged every month. Any reliable pumps?
I'm assuming that your Gen-X pump is an external pump that is plumbed to a bulkhead. Are you using a bulkhead screen?
Here are examples of bulkhead screens:

They are also known as bulkhead strainers:

I use these tank dividers to keep macroalgae from leaving the refugium. They serve as a mesh screen to keep debris from entering the return compartment.

The tank divider is installed such that the flow will press it against a baffle to keep it in place.
