derasa in my tank?

would a derasa clam work in my 40 breeder (which is like 16 or 17 inches high, and then i've also got a 3-4 inch sandbed) under 4x96w pc's? Someone meantioned to me that they are lower light needy than others...

some people have done it with powercompacts i would not reccomend it the difference beetween my old powercompacts and my new halides is amazing
have you thought about a light upgrade?
if anybody can do it its someone with 400w of powercompact like you

no option for a light upgrade unfortunately. Otherwise i'd have done that a long time ago lol. I just recently (ok like 4 months ago) got a very nice (expensive) new canopy that is the right height for pc's, but too shallow for MH. I would consider t5's for sure tho if i had the money :( Maybe i'll try a trade, but i would guess that wont go far with t5's lol.

well to do it cheap start with a two tube t5 kit then do another 2later leave some pc on there or all of it i would say try it knowing you may have to add light later

ya good point. How much do you think that two seperate 2x96w pc retro's would sell for? They were sort of DIY w/workhorse balasts (but i personally did not make them) and work great....just curious, because if i can maybe get rid of those for a good chunk of money i'll get t5's.
