We've a 150G tank w/30G refugium. Noticed the nitrates were ~15ppm (prob. due to overfeeding corals). Added a hefty dose of Prime and then did two 20% H2O changes on successive days. Nitrates came back down to <5ppm. The water changes caused the pH to drop ~0.2; the nighttime low was ~7.9 (normally 8.1-8.3 daily swing). Used SuperBuffer to bring the pH back in line over two days. Everything looks great but the two colonies of Xenia folded up and wilted. Two days later they started to recover but I noticed the tips of most of the polyps had turned white and shortened; in some cases the polyps were gone leaving a short stalk with white end. I noticed the iodide was very low so brought it back up to 0.06. Any ideas what to do further and what caused the white-tipped necrosis?
Thanks,
Larry
