Your Water Changes

Hi Randy:

I note from previous articles you mention you use IO for your water changes and top off the Ca and Mg while it mixes, but why do you top off the freshly amde mix and not the adjust the tank parameters after the water change. Is it a preference or a reason behind it?

I believe Randy does automated 1% daily water changes.... this would deplete his levels (slightly) each day....

For a larger change I would still do it his way-- for stability.

yes, I do 1% daily changes, and just add a fixed amount to the new salt water, without measuring any levels. I measure my tank once in a blue moon, a nd this process keeps things basically where I want them. :)

FWIW, IO runs low in calcium, and without boosting it to NSW levels, it would steadily drag down the tank calcium.
