hey guys,

i have a 120g mixed reef tank and im considering adding a large Harlequin Tuskfish to it.

Current stock list:

Purple Tang
Blue Tang
Mystery Wrasse
Yellow Watchman Goby
Flame Hawkfish
Copperband Butterfly

What im wondering is

Will the Harlequin Tuskfish damage any of my corals or attack any of my fish.

any comments would be appreciated.

thanks

Hey Philip,

The Tusk is an awesome fish. I'm actually trying to decide to get one or a Paddlefin Wrasse. To answer your question, the Tusk should be okay with corals and other fish, but inverts are on its menu. Its a more gentle wrasse than some of the others such as the Lunare.

They are great fish. It will not harm any fish or corals, however, it will probably eat crustaceans. You also need to prepare for a large bioload. Australian ones have better colours and hardiness (they only come in larger sizes though).

Mine does not allow other wrasses in the tank. But he was there first, might be different if you add tusk last.

They are actually a little shy and are pretty peaceful.

Mine is peaceful. It is coral safe, but not small fish, invert, clam or snail safe. It will also rearrange rocks and knock over coral. It is not a good reef citizen even though it is coral safe.

It got moved to the FOWLR.
