Hey guys,

Planning a 240. Would love a trigger - but I want snails. Snails are the priority. Now I know there are is gaurantee, only degrees of likelihood.

Hence, of the triggers listed below that I like, which is likely to be the best choice:

1. Pink tail
2. Blue chin
3. Niger

I would plan to get something about 3" long or so......... so if he did start mucnhing my snail population, I should be able to get him out before they are all gone.

Thanks,

Matt

I had all three of those triggers in the same tank with hermits and turbos. I had both regular and mexican turbos and they left them all alone. You will be fine with those triggers with any kind of snails, just watch the niger, because sometimes they can get a little aggressive but not to often.

thanks for teh reply, and sorry for the delatyed response. THat would be great if they'll let snails alone. I can live without stars and crabs, but not without snails!!!

I'd only plan on keeping one of these trigger species..... although the possibility of 2 is something I hadn't really considered.... either the pink tail of blue chin could look nice together with a niger.

I'm not sure what direction I want to take the tank..... that is I am not sure if I want to go down the road of reef, mixed, or FOWLR. probably mixed to begin with, and maybe reef later..... so I want to get a few key fish that will potentially be reef safe...... I hate the idea of taking fish back to the shop...... I feel like a traitor, unless they have become a bully or something.

Thanks again for teh reply.

Regards,

Matt

Pink tails and bluechins will also be fine with shrimp and starfish. They are considered totally reef safe. Also bluechins are usually really shy when you first get them.
