Hello, all..

I recently became the proud owner of a beautiful 10" porc that has been a great centerpiece to a FOWLR tank.. The specs are as follows: 75 gallon tank (120 on order ATM), Berlin style sump, way oversized skimmer, SEIO 850 for additional water turnover..

My question is, are these fish particulary prone to ich? When I got the fish, I was told that due to thier thick slime coat, I probably had little to no concern of an ich breakout. However, this morning I woke to find my puffer quite literally covered in what I can only describe as ich..

My concern is that I don't have a big QT tank that I can house him in, and I'm afraid my big happy puffer is going to succumb.. Any suggestions??

Thank you..

They are prone to ich.
I haven't had to treat one yet (knocks on wood) Someone will likely chime in soon.

try the bath method first, then if that doesnt work, go Q/t ASAP

Doing a dip/bath and returning the puffer to the display tank will reinfect the puffer.

The problem is your display tank has the parasite and as long as there are fish in the system, the parasite will live on.
