What's this? It has developed the plating form as it has gotten bigger.

Thanks! It was actually sold to me as the tricolour A. Valida so I'm sure you're right. Is the plating attitude normal, or just a result of flow/light?

Thanks again :)

very interesting growth my valida didnt grow like that at all ... hard to say but im guessing ur flow might cause something like that to happen

I have the same A. Valida with the same growth pattern. The base spread out pretty big. How much flow do you have in your tank? I have approx 19000 gph, two tunze 6100 mounted on wavysea, 2x6200 on the back wall and Tunze master electronic pump return to wavysea. I know strong flow make your corals grow thicker.

Wow, that's alot of flow! Well, I have 3 x 2600, so a bit more than 33X, but 2 of them are on the right side of the tank where most of the SPS are. This one gets quite a bit of pretty chaotic flow I guess. It's weird though, because this acro has been with me through quite a few overhauls and upgrades. I wouldn't say flow has always been ideal but it has always plated like this. It was a single 2 inch branch when I bought it.

I can say the colour and PE has improved tremendously since I added my reactor, I hope to get some really fast growth now so I'll see what hapens.

Got any pics of yours?

Thanks as always, Becca :)
