Question about when adding water to top tank off

I filled up my tank with tap water to begin with(which i read isnt the best thing to do because of unwanted substances) but when I want to top my tank off is it ok if I buy distilled water from the grocery store?

Not a stupid question...

Distilled is OK (although may get expensive) - just don't use salt.

yeah was thinking of the same thing.. is it ok to use water from a dehumidifer?

Probably don't want to do that. It could be sucking a lot of other gunk out of the air you don't want in your tank. It's much cheaper in the long run to invest in a quality RO/DI unit.

I would skip the dehumidifier water. Too much crud in it.

I remember seeing something here saying it was bad, but can't remember why.
